Katrina’s Guide to Aging Gracefully
Aging is a privilege — and with the right aesthetic approach, it can be an empowering experience! Katrina Riley, co-founder of ÉLAN Aesthetics, is known for delivering natural results and expert advice on aging well. Here’s her decade-by-decade guide to maintaining timeless beauty.
Your 20s
While you’re young and still producing collagen, it’s all about prevention. Your twenties are a great time to invest in a simple, yet effective medical-grade skincare routine.
SPF — Rain or shine, wear a physical coverage sunscreen everyday. Make sure it’s SPF 50+ to effectively protect against UVA/UVB rays!
Katrina’s Pick: Colorescience Flex
Vitamin C — Antioxidants provide an extra layer of defense against environmental damage while brightening and hydrating your skin.
Katrina’s Pick: SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic
Retinoid — Incorporating a retinoid at night refines skin texture, evens tone and boosts cell turnover. If you're new to retinoids or have sensitive skin, start with a lower concentration (0.05%) 2-3 nights a week.
Katrina’s Pick: skinbetter AlphaRet
Your 30s
As collagen production begins to slow, your 30s are when preventative skincare meets injectables and laser treatments.
Neurotoxins — Preventative Botox, Dysport or Daxxify smooths fine lines and keeps new wrinkles from forming. Starting a light dose in your early 30s will give your skin an immediate boost and long-term benefits.
Sculptra — Sculpta is a biostimulator that works with your body to restore collagen that you start to lose in your early to mid thirties.
Laser Treatments — Lasers are the best way to correct sun damage from your 20s while also increasing collagen production.
Katrina’s Favorites: BBL, MOXI & a light CO2
Your 40s and 50s
In your 40s and 50s, activating collagen and aging gracefully becomes the main focus. The goal? Undetectable, natural-looking results that allow you to feel like the best version of yourself.
Neurotoxins — Staying consistent with Botox, Dysport or Daxxify every 3-4 months is key to softening deep lines and preventing new wrinkles from forming.
Sculptra — Although each client has unique needs, Katrina typically recommends a series of three Sculpta sessions followed by an annual maintenance vial to sustain collagen levels.
Medical-Grade Skincare & Facials — The right skincare products enhance your investment in aesthetic treatments. For an added lift, the Remodeling Facial at VISAGE uses microcurrents and advanced massage techniques firm, contour and activate the skin’s regenerative process.
Additional Treatments to Consider: Filler for structural support, microneedling for texture refinement and CO2 laser for deep resurfacing
